“He wants to see me face-to-face because this is the most I’ve ever gotten from him. I’m taking the girls so I won’t be alone and we can enjoy the sun a little bit.” Kandi had already ran this down to Jamal. She knew he understood what was about to go down. “I’ll meet up with him tonight. Once he has the money in hand, his people will head this way with the work. I need you to be at the shop with Todd and Dion no later than seven tomorrow night.” Jamal didn’t like what he was hearing. He was feeling a certain type of way that Kandi didn’t invite him to come. She claimed they were partners, so why wouldn’t she introduce him to “the connect.”

“A’ight, be careful and y’all don’t have too much fun.” He pecked her lips and turned the radio up. Kandi went into the airport; she didn’t have time for Jamal’s temper tantrum. Not only would he have to accept the fact that she was her own woman but that she no longer depended on him anymore. That’s why she couldn’t wait to see Bread; he respected her position in the game and wanted to see her grow. Jamal wanted her to step down so he could take over but that wasn’t happening. Kandi loved the power; she felt like it was what she was supposed to be doing. All of the tragedies in her life had prepared her for the present moment, which was going to Miami to pay for the biggest purchase of her life! With thirty bricks at twenty-five thousand each, she had dollar signs running through her head.
